Day 25 |
Yep, it was raining. Hard. We pulled out our rainsuits and started up towards Germany. In Munich, the traffic was practically stopped dead and it was pouring. Enough to make 2 bikers grumpy, except that the cars were spaced far enough apart that we could safely proceed through the parking lot. Once out of town, the weather cleared up somewhat, and the traffic was much improved. Then, the following sequence repeated itself about 6 times on the way to Hannover:
1. Rain starts, traffic moving well
2. Rain stops, traffic still moving well
3. Traffic stops; we proceed between lanes
4. Traffic starts
5. Rain starts, traffic moving well
After a couple of gas/rest stops, we started talking to these two German guys on big Yamaha TR1's (XS1100's from the early 80's) who were evidently making a similar trip. Nice guys. Bikers are universal. (Except in Italy.)
At 11 PM, after 12 hours of ridding, we arrived in Hannover, tired but happy with our 850 km day. After rewarding ourselves with a couple of Big Macs, we went to our buddy Martin Bock's place. He was nice enough to set us up with accomodation even though he wasn't there, which was really great.
After some discussion, we decided to make the next day our last and head home to Copenhagen.
Roads: Crossed Innsbruck and took the E6 towards Germany through the Fernpaß (mountain road),
it would have been a nice road if it wasnt raining. And then north, north north.
