Day 8 |
We managed to hit the road before noon, a true accomplishment which involved a couple of espressos.
Of course
Neal was fresh as always and I was dead. He is the ultimate morning person and I am the night owl.
The road
was uneventful, we had a lot of kilometers to cover and it was very hot. The province of Aragón is just
one big desert. There are few trees and the sun just slams you on the head, kinda fun when you have a black
helmet. We crossed over into the province of Valencia via a very small road running through the mountains. It was
one of those roads where you dont know what you would do if you were to meet a car coming in the opposite direction
in a curve. Lucky for us (but not for them) we only met cyclists who were going uphill as if they were doing the
Tour of Spain (they didn't like us very much racing down through the tight curves).
From the mountain there is a great view of
the whole plain of Valencia which is covered with orange trees. Yep
that's were the oranges come from.
Roads: Took the N121 out of Pamplona until the intersection with the N232
near Castejón. Followed on the N232 to Zaragoza
and then the N330 all the way down to Teruel. The N234 goes into the province of Castellón until Segorbe.
We then took a right onto a
very small road towards Altura and then Llíria which is already in the province of Valencia. Continued on the C3322 to
our destination - a house in the countryside about 20km from the capital Valencia.
