Epilogue |
NB:
That trip is something that I will not be forgetting soon. I urge all those who have the chance to do something like it to seize
it and go. You won't regret it.
I made another trip, this time with Michelle, around Jutland (the western half of Denmark), and that was great too. Even managed to stop at Legoland.
I kept my bike for another two months, until the end of September, when I sold it for almost as much as I paid for it. It had 53,000 km on it when I got it and 65,000 when I sold it. Throughout, the bike ran faultlessly, and I continue to be a Yamaha junkie. In my experience, they're bulletproof. I really got used to having a fairing as well - it's nice on the highway. Another thing - it's the first white bike that I've had and not once was I cut off, which leads me to believe that it really did make me a lot more visible.
At Christmas I went back home to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I hope to do another trip soon. Within a couple of months, I hope to have my very own Yamaha FJ1100.
Feel free to email us if you go on a great trip somewhere - let us know how it went!
CV:
Like Neal said, you dont forget easily a trip like this, or for that matter any motorcycle trip. There's
something special about travelling by motorcycle and I've already promised myself that everytime i can,
I'll be travelling on a bike.
I'm going on another trip in June '96, the Alps, south of France (Nice-Toulon), maybe again the Canyon du Verdon and coming back through Holland (Den Haag) to visit a friend, before heading back to Denmark (yeah a bit of a detour). This time I'm going with Christine, she has her own bike. I'm sure it will be a good trip, although she is not the carzy rider that Neal was... :-)
I'm very happy with my Virago, it is my first bike after all. I've had it now for a couple of summers and put in 33,000 km, most of which made outside Denmark. I'd like to get a bigger bike, but not while I live in Denmark - with a 180% tax on motorcycles, they wont get me a second time! Anyways, it's fun to scratch the foot pegs on every mountain turn!
Yep, we're looking forward to hear from other people who've enjoyed great roads somewhere around!
